QB1? – Jalen Hurts Does Not Plan on Missing Any Rent Payments

QB Jalen Hurts spoke to the media on Wednesday.
The big story on Action News is whether or not the Eagles are going to name him starting quarterback, as if anybody really gives a shit about that on May 19th. I mean, come on. We’re still four months from the season opener. It’s not that big of a deal right now.
But, since Nick Sirianni REFUSES to name a starting quarterback (thick sarcasm), Hurts was asked about the topic and he said this:

Hurts:
“I value everything coach has brought here. I remember back in my days at Alabama, Coach Saban, hearing him talk about discipline, commitment, effort, toughness, and pride – having these core values that he’s trying to instill in the team. And in the end, it all worked out for the team. You see coach Nick Sirianni coming in and preaching connection, preaching accountability and competition and fundamentals and football IQ. Preaching all these things. I know in all of those different avenues, all those different values and principles we’re trying to instill here, that no one is above that. Everybody has to go to work. For me, I know the rent is due every day. It’s always been that way for me. I’ve always had a get better mentality every day, grow every day, be a better leader every day, be a better quarterback every day. When that rent is due, I don’t plan on missing no payments. It’s work.”
The rent is due, but is it too damn high? That one political candidate used to think so. Jimmy McMillan is his name.
It’s a good quote though. You can’t control what you can’t control. So you show up, bust your ass every day, and let the chips fall as they may. If you’re worried about being named the starter then you’re not focused on becoming a better player, so it’s all just bullshit we in the media ask players because we need something to talk about. Some story to tell during OTAs.
