Sixers/Wizards Game Five Did Monstrous Television and Streaming Numbers

When the stakes are high, the viewers tune in, and that’s what happened Wednesday night.
According to the Sixers’ PR staff, Game 5 against the Wizards was the highest rated Sixers game on NBC Sports Philadelphia going all the way back to 2002.
From them:
“NBC Sports Philadelphia’s coverage of last night’s 76ers’ Game 5 win over the Wizards posted an average audience of nearly 380,000 total viewers in the Philadelphia market on TV and streaming platforms. On TV, the game averaged an 8.6 household rating in the Philadelphia (region), which equates to approximately 230,000 homes, making it the highest-rated 76ers game on the network since 2002 and the No. 1 program in primetime last night. The household rating peaked at an 11.8, which equates to approximately 313,000 homes, from 9:30 to 9:45 p.m. NBC Sports Philadelphia’s live-stream of the game attracted nearly 45,000 unique users, also setting an all-time high.”
That’s a huge number. Gargantuan. Behemoth. Monolithic!
And the bummer is that NBC Sports Philadelphia is done for the year. That’s it. They can’t broadcast beyond the first round because the national rights holders get exclusivity from round two through the Finals. Great way to go out for NBCSP, for sure, but it’s gotta be annoying for them that they can’t ride the momentum further.
