Barring a Ben Simmons trade, the Sixers roster looks pretty much set for the coming season.

Daryl Morey and Doc Rivers brought back Danny Green and Furkan Korkmaz and signed Andre Drummond and Georges Niang in free agency. They drafted Jaden Springer and two young bigs and have last year’s entire starting unit returning, we assume.

Of the remaining free agents, Paul Millsap is one of the more intriguing names, and he’s linked to the Sixers by Jake Fischer at Bleacher Report:

Golden State has been the team most often linked by league sources to Paul Millsap, arguably the most consequential free agent left. Yet while the 36-year-old former All-Star has drawn interest from the Warriors, Hawks, Nets, Pelicans, 76ers and Timberwolves, no team sources contacted by Bleacher Report indicated any contract agreement with Millsap has come close to the finish line.

Millsap was a four-time All Star in Atlanta, from 2013 to 2017. It wasn’t that long ago, but his numbers naturally started to dip in Denver as he took on more of a peripheral role this past season.

He’s a career 34.3% three point shooter, though he really didn’t added stretch ability to his game prior to age 28. He was much more of a midrange guy during the early part of his career, and then began to extend his range. As for fit, the Sixers brought in Niang to stretch the floor at power forward and also have the promising young Paul Reed, so it’s hard to see where Millsap’s minutes would come from, unless the Sixers wanted to go super-small at the four and five in a different sort of lineup.

Keep in mind, the Sixers used part of their mid-level exception to bring in Niang, so there’s not a ton of flexibility here. Millsap would want to have to come here, play with Joel Embiid perhaps, or play for Doc Rivers. Other than Millsap, there aren’t any remaining free agents that might interest Sixers fans, unless you wanna talk yourself into a JJ Redick redux.
