Arizona online sports betting has yet to launch and the state already has multiple market access agreements for its sports betting licenses.

The three most recent agreements are Betfred Sports with the We-Ko-Pa Casino Resort, MaximBet with the White Mountain Apache Tribe and BlueBet with the Colorado Indian River Tribes. The three latest partnerships brings the total number of market access agreements in Arizona up to 12.

Arizona Sports Betting Targeting Sept. 9 Launch

Arizona sports betting is targeting a launch of Sept. 9, with 20 available licenses. Ten licenses are available for the state’s professional sports teams and 10 license are available for the state’s tribes. Additionally, 10 licenses for “limited event wagering operators” are available, but the holders need to partner with one of the 20 event wagering operators.

Remaining Arizona Sports Betting Timeline

Here is the tentative Arizona sports betting timeline as the state readies for next month’s launch:

  • Aug. 16: Qualified license applicants are notified.
  • Aug. 27: Allocation of licenses are announced.
  • Aug. 28: Marketing for sports betting is allowed
  • Sept. 9: Arizona sports betting is launched.

If more applicants apply for available licenses in either the professional sports franchise, tribal or limited event wagering operator category, the Arizona Department of Gaming will evaluate each applicant’s bid package to determine who best meets 19 specific criteria laid out in the sports betting rules and regulations.

Arizona will feature an in-person sports betting tax rate of 8% and an online sports betting tax rate of 10%.
