The Phils sent out a press release on Monday with some basic information about 2022 ticket sales.

Casually dropped into the release was a nugget about start times that’s somewhat interesting:

The Phillies have announced their ticket on-sale dates for the upcoming season, giving fans the chance to secure game tickets in advance of the holidays for Spring Training at BayCare Ballpark in Clearwater, Fla., and the regular season at Citizens Bank Park.

“We are looking forward to an exciting 2022 season that features great matchups and a terrific lineup of promotions, giveaways and theme nights,” said John Weber, Phillies Senior Vice President, Ticket Operations & Projects. “Also for 2022, start times for most of our April, May and September games Monday through Thursday (17 games) will now be 6:45 p.m. Fans should visit phillies.com for the most up-to-date schedule.”

School nights. They’re moving up the start times on school nights. Now we can turn the TV off in disgust at 9:30 p.m. instead of 9:45.

Heyo!

Makes sense though. Now this batch of games should be over before 10 p.m., which is how it should be. The Sixers and Flyers are wrapping up at a reasonable hour, and baseball would benefit from following suit. The kiddos can now stay up to watch the Phillies blow saves instead of having to be in bed.
