Howie Roseman is Going on a Quarterback Scouting Trip
Would you willingly watch ACC football?
Yeah, me neither. Unless 2016-2020 Clemson was playing. Or Florida State back in 1999, with Chris Weinke, Anquan Boldin, and Sebastian Janikowski.
Howie Roseman, however, gets paid to watch football. College football. And then draft the best guys to improve the Philadelphia Eagles, so that we can become world champions once again. Apparently he’s gonna be in Pittsburgh tomorrow for Panthers/Tar Heels:
The Heinz Field press box will be crowded tomorrow for Pitt-North Carolina with 38 NFL scouts/executives scheduled to be in attendance.
Among them, 5 GMs: Kevin Colbert (Steelers), Howie Roseman (Eagles), Mike Mayock (Raiders), Rick Spielman (Vikings), George Paton (Broncos)

Pitt is such a perennial disappoint. Yeah, they’re 7-2, but they lost at home to a MAC team and also to Manny Diaz and the sorry-ass Miami Hurricanes. They are eight points away from being 9-0, but pulled off a couple of choke jobs at Heinz.
They always put a couple of guys into the NFL though, and so Howie will be keeping an eye on quarterback Kenny Pickett, a 6’4″ senior who has thrown for a ton of yards during his time in the ‘Burgh. It’s kind of a disappointing QB class, but Pickett has played REALLY well this year, and has climbed up into the top five on some expert’s big boards. It’s not a Joe Burrow-esque rise, but it’s a rise nonetheless.
The other guy playing QB Thursday night is North Carolina’s Sam Howell, who was a top-three projected QB in this coming draft if you go back to preseason predictions. His stock dropped a little bit after an underwhelming season opener, but he’s been better in games against a ranked Wake Forest and Notre Dame.
There are other NFL prospects in this game. Carolina has a good running back named Ty Chandler. Pitt receiver Jordan Addison has a pro future. But Howie is here for the Pickett/Howell duel, and I’d imagine the 37 other scouts and executives will be, too. Keep an eye on this one if you’re flipping back and forth from the Sixers/Raptors game.
