New Sixers Uniforms are the Best Threads Since A.I. and Matt Geiger Wore Black
If you watched the Sixers beat a good Bulls team on Wednesday night, you witnessed the debut of the Spectrum-throwback City Edition uniforms. They feature the retro logo and the old school colors on the side, with a sick blue and red combo motif. Motif is a great word that you can’t use very often.
I’ll admit I’m not much of a jersey guy, because media members aren’t supposed to wear team apparel and do not buy team apparel, but in this case, I’m comfortable saying that these are the best Sixers jerseys of the last 20 years.
Look at how cool they are:

Everything is perfect. The font. The colors. The Spectrum logo on the side. The Crypto.com patch is a little anachronistic (another great word), but that’s okay. When you go retro, but have a sponsor, obviously there’s gonna be a little bit of a funky juxtaposition.
That brings us to our next point, which regards the black jerseys. Chris Heck doesn’t like the black jerseys, and he’s wrong. He sort of caved last year, when they released the Boathouse Row kits, which I liked but some people hated. They didn’t like “New Philadelphia” and all the assorted shit that ensued from a harmless comment. Kyle Neubeck and Derek Bodner also dislike the classic black uniforms, and they are also wrong. Sad!
How can you not like these? –
They were fire. Don’t care what anybody says. Everybody tuned in to watch the Allen Iverson wearing black. He stepped over Tyronn Lue in the black jersey. They are CLASSIC Sixer threads.
That’s the ranking over the last 20 years. Number one is this year’s City Edition uniform. Number two is black. Everything else is a distant third.
And if you don’t know, then now you know.
