Let’s it back to the Eagles.

This guy Mike Tanier writes for Football Outsiders and did a Senior Bowl notebook that contains this paragraph:

Liberty quarterback Malik Willis has the best arm in Mobile, and it’s not close. He rifles off medium-range passes, both from the pocket and on the run, with little effort. Willis doesn’t have an off-speed pitch, however, and his accuracy was scattershot on Tuesday. Still, some teams are about to have visions of Trey Lance-meets-Josh Allen dancing in their heads. Some Eagle-eyed observers noted Howie Roseman paying particular attention to Willis.

Well there you go. There’s WIP’s programming for the rest of this week. Should the Birds draft Malik Willis? 215-592-9494. Your phone calls after the break.

Malik Willis played an independent hodge podge of a schedule at Liberty that featured opponents like Ole Miss, Syracuse, Army, and Troy. Dual threat guy with a big arm, and by “big arm” I mean this dude has an absolute rocket for an appendage. There may be bionic enhancements in there. He is super athletic and really fun to watch.

Problem is that a lot of negatives attributed to him are Jalen Hurts type of negatives. He doesn’t seem to read the field at an NFL level. He can be a one-read guy who flees the pocket early. His decision making is suspect at times. Comes from a simple offense with RPOs and whatnot. Sound familiar?

But the dude has a ton of upside and if developed properly could go on to be a stud. He’s got the kind of physical traits that NFL teams love, and so that’s why there’s a lot of intrigue there. Right now most projections have him going late in the first round or dropping into the early second, though on some mocks I see him in that 10-15 range as well. It’s the NFL; you know how it goes. If teams believe in a QB, they go for him.
