One of the biggest mysteries in Philadelphia sports is the employment status of Jeff Skversky.

In January, we tried and failed to confirm that he had left Action News after 13 years.

We contacted Jeff, who did not respond. We contacted Action News, who replied by saying that they “do not comment on personnel matters.” A non-ABC source told us that WPVI “eliminated the third sports position,” but again, nothing official from the station and no notice of departure from said talent.

Jeff surfaced doing local high school and college basketball games, like Roman Catholic vs. West Catholic:

And now he’s going to be joining the Philadelphia Union broadcasts, according to this press release from the team:

CHESTER, Pa. (Feb. 24, 2022) – Philadelphia Union today announced their broadcast schedule for the 2022 regular-season, with all 34 matches available live on local and national television.

PHL17 returns as the flagship broadcast partner for the 2022 season, airing 27 of the Union’s 34 games, 6ABC and NBC Sports Philadelphia will air one a piece, and five of the Union’s matches will be nationally televised. Additionally, fans in the Philadelphia viewing area will be able to watch all non-national broadcast games for free at philadelphiaunion.com.

Legendary play-by-play broadcaster JP Dellacamera and former star player and international color commentator, Danny Higginbotham, return to the booth for the 2022 season. Dave Leno and Marisa Pilla return to host pregame, halftime and postgame coverage, and will be joined this season by local TV personality Jeff Skversky, while former Union stars Sebastien Le Toux and Sheanon Williams will provide analysis.

“Local TV personality,” is the choice of words, but zero mention of broadcast partner 6 ABC in that one-sentence description.

So there you go. Skversky is doing anything and everything. Everything except Action News, which is still written in his social media bios. His Twitter profile picture and header still show 6 ABC stuff. It appears as though he’s just doing an assortment of freelance gigs now, which is cool, but if you weren’t at your old job anymore, wouldn’t you do a farewell/thank you post and update your social?

Weird.
