You think this movie was filmed in Philly? My God, this is a bukkake of Philadelphia shots in 69 seconds. We’ve got Geno’s, the Wells Fargo Center, the 76ers practice facility, Matisse Thybulle, Tyrese Maxey, Kyle Lowry, Imhotep Charter, Girard College(?), Seth Curry, Tobias Harris, the Four Seasons pool, and City Hall. Even Nick Sirianni thought Netflix should cool it on the pandering.
I’m easily watching this the day it comes out. One, because I have a guilty pleasure for Adam Sandler and two, because the basketball scenes seem legit. The worst thing about sports movies is when the actors can’t throw or play for shit. I stopped watching Friday Night Lights the TV show because Matt Saracen couldn’t throw like a QB1. You’re trying to tell me Matt Saracen is winning state IN TEXAS and can’t hit Smash Williams on a 12 yard slant route?
What if this movie is an absolute hit? Like Rocky back in the 70s and it wins Best Picture? The Uncut Gems trailer didn’t elicit a constant anxiety attack like the actual movie did. Who says we’re not looking at a hit here. If that’s the case where are we building the Juancho Hernangomez statue?
