Talk about your mind playing tricks on ya:

I don’t even care about the Dr. J answer. I can sit here and talk to you all about Joel Embiid’s dominance, how he’s having one of the best seasons for a center of all time, and how he kept the Sixers afloat in the wake of the Ben Simmons drama. All true points. We can have the talk about the impact advanced analytics has had on the NBA vs. just watching the game. Someone is going to come back with their Nikola Jokic stats that will paint him in a positive light and Jo in a negative one. Then we’ll just do the same song and dance we’ve been doing for the last month.

Both guys at the end of the day deserve the award. I’d love to see Joel get it. If he doesn’t? Fine, I won’t be annoyed. But I’ll be annoyed when First team All-NBA comes out again this year and he’s on Second Team again. The NBA has a voting problem when it comes to All-NBA because today’s basketball is position-less. Why are voters required to vote for two forwards, two guards, and a center when we have centers who play guard and guards who can play forward? Make First Team All-NBA the best five basketball players regardless of position. I know I’m mostly railing against this because Joel Embiid is going to finish second in MVP voting again this year and again find himself on the Second Team. There’s no reason that should happen. The Oscars doesn’t have a selection process for the Best Movie category that requires two Drama, two Horror and one Comedy film. They pick the best five to seven movies and they vote. Bring that shit to basketball.

Well this is awkward:

“I’d pick Coke Zero and Nikola Jokic for MVP.”
