Thought this was worth sharing:

Marsh has only been with the Phils for seven games, so we don’t have a large sample size to work with here, but hitting was identified as a weakness when Dave Dombrowski brought the outfielder over from Anaheim.

Since joining the Phils, he’s slashing .278/.316/.333, good for an OPS of .649.

In 168 games for Los Angeles, those numbers were .239/.299/.354 with a .653 OPS. He hit the ball better during his first Angels year, and his hitting was slightly down this season, before the trade.

This will be interesting to follow as the Phillies and Kevin Long work with Marsh. He’s still only 24 years old and there’s plenty of room for him to grow his game. They’ve already made some mechanical tweaks to his swing, and he just looks a little calmer and less “fidgety” at the plate so far, if that makes sense. In that second side-by-side photo up there, you see more bend in the knees with his hand placement a little deeper. It feels similar to what they did with Alec Bohm, but I could be wrong. I’ll ask Bob Wankel. Either way, this should help Marsh generate some more power from the lower half. They’re really simplified the mechanics here.

Good stuff. Worth keeping an eye on.
