The Eagles Absolutely Should Not Trade Andre Dillard to the Cowboys
Tyron Smith was injured Wednesday and we’ve got an update here:
#Cowboys standout LT Tyron Smith actually suffered an avulsion fracture of the knee, meaning the hamstring tendon that sits at the back of the knee pulled off the bone and he needs surgery, sources say. If he’s back at all, it’ll be December. A tough loss.

Translation: the Cowboys’ starting left tackle is gonna miss most of the season.
As we advance the story, people are talking about trading Andre Dillard to Dallas. The Birds just happen to have a good left tackle that they aren’t using, so here’s an opportunity, right?
Nah. You can’t do it. It’s not just that Dallas is a division rival, but they’re the biggest threat to the Eagles to win the NFC East. If you wanted to pull a deal with Washington or New York, so be it, but you can’t do anything to help the Cowboys right now. Unless they were insanely stupid and offered a first rounder, there’s no threshold for value here. I wouldn’t even trade Dillard to the Cowboys for a second and wouldn’t do it for a third either.
Plus, you need all of the depth you can get on the offensive line. If you trade Dillard and Jordan Mailata or Lane Johnson goes down, then what? You’re turning to Le’Raven Clark or Jack Driscoll. Dillard has improved since his draft selection and the beats think he’s had a good camp. If you can flip him for value, you do it, but Dallas can’t be the destination. You just can’t do it.
