Sports media news:

There was some speculation that Drew Brees might be doing NFL for FOX this year, but alas, that is not the case. They’ll have Tom Brady coming in after retirement to be the lead NFL analyst, which is big story number three.

The third big story is Joe Buck and Troy Aikman leaving for ESPN, so your top NFL team on FOX this year is Kevin Burkhardt, Greg Olsen, Erin Andrews, and Tom Rinaldi. That’s not a bad grouping. I would actually describe most of these teams as “serviceable,” which isn’t a negative thing. Serviceable is synonymous for “steady,” in my mind. Take that Adam Amin, Mark Schlereth, Kristina Pink trio, for example. Amin is as straightforward as it gets. He’s not gonna make goofy mistakes or sound bored calling the game, like Al Michaels, who seems like he’d rather be anywhere else on the planet. Schlereth gets more excited for offensive line play of course, but he’s steady, too, and Pink is a pro.

That’s kind of the theme here. Nothing about any of these teams really jumps off the page and slaps you in the face, but they’ve got some solid talent here. Joe Davis does MLB and is a newcomer. Kevin Kugler is underrated and Robert Smith has done a lot of college football in the past.
