The Titans getting rid of A.J. Brown might go down as one of the dumbest moves ever for that franchise.

Quick note here:

Through seven games, Brown has 659 receiving yards and five touchdowns. He’s top-8 in the NFL in both of those categories. He is tied for fourth in 20+ yard receptions, despite having fewer grabs than the guys above him (Tyreek Hill, Justin Jefferson, Jaylen Waddle). No Eagles receiver has gotten off to a hotter start to their tenure since T.O. joined up more than 15 years ago.

Meantime, Tennessee is doing this in the receiving game (via ESPN) –

The receivers are blocked off in yellow. Tally those stats up, and you’ve got 658 yards, so yes, A.J. Brown has more receiving yards (and more touchdowns) than all of the Tennessee receivers, combined. Two of their top three pass catchers happen to be running backs, so go figure.

I know Tennessee likes to run the ball behind Derrick Henry, and they’re 5-2, but their winning streak includes two over the Colts, the Raiders, the Texans, and Commanders. Only one of those games featured Malik Willis under center, and if you go back to last year and the year before, Ryan Tannehill did average about 500 passing attempts in the regular season. They had Brown and Corey Davis and even Julio Jones caught 400-some-odd-yards of passes. It’s just bizarre that they moved on from Brown with a rookie draft pick (Burks) and Robert Woods coming off an ACL as the replacements.

Anyway, Howie Roseman gets a gold star for this one. One of his best moves ever, if not the best.
