Saw this tonight and thought it was interesting:

It would stand to reason that if Jamie and John have spoken “about 7 times since Thursday,” then it’s all good in the hood. The relevance here is that a lot of people hypothesized that Kincade had something to do with Lynch being laid off by Beasley, I guess because technically it’s “The John Kincade Show” and so the default thought is that the lead anchor influences personnel decisions. Kincade was taking a ton of shit on social and in the comments section of the YouTube stream.

There was also this:

As I theorized Friday, Jamie’s departure was part of a larger wave of Beasley moves. They had to lay him off a day early because he was set to hop on a plane for Arizona, where the Eagles are playing this weekend. Instead, Kincade, Bob Cooney, Pat Egan, and a shit ton of Birds fans went out there. As expected, Friday’s morning show, live at some bar in Phoenix, had all of the enthusiasm and excitement of a sitting shiva session.

Boston was hit rather hard in this round of exits. Toucher and Rich, who are relatively new Crossing Broad readers, lost their morning show producer, which they apparently weren’t happy about. A bunch of folks at Beasley’s other stations up there got the axe, while in Philly I’m told it was another person at WXTU (the country station) and some off-air folks.

In truth, I’ve never heard of any beef between Jamie and John. I think when stuff like this happens, people go back and focus on things they might have noticed in the past, like “oh I remember they seemed standoffish when talking about Aaron Nola two weeks ago,” but if you do 20 hours of radio with the same dudes every week, you’re gonna have those moments. John even mentions a “sparring partner” in the first tweet.

In this case, it appears as though Jamie was just caught up in a company-wide shedding of salary, so the “Kincade did this” rumor appears to be unfounded.

Also, keep in mind that employees who didn’t get laid off have to be careful when commenting on these moves publicly. You wanna have your colleague’s back, of course, but you don’t want to piss off management at the same time, or else your ass might be next. You know what I’m saying?

Jamie has an open invite to come on Crossing Broadcast whenever he wants to.
