Colts:

They replaced him with Jeff Saturday, who has never coached a NFL or college game in his entire life. Talk about weird.

Anyway, Reich was Doug Pederson’s offensive coordinator when the Birds won it all. Nick Sirianni was Reich’s OC in Indianapolis. It just makes too much sense. He’d be a candidate to replace Shane Steichen if he moved on, or even to come in as a consultant and provide some guidance on the offensive side of the ball. Maybe he hangs around NovaCare for the rest of this season and just drinks coffee and adds another perspective in meetings.

The Colts had a lot of talent in recent years, but just never got settled at quarterback. Andrew Luck retired. Jacoby Brissett was there. Then Philip Rivers. Then Carson Wentz. Then Matt Ryan. Now Sam Ehlinger stands in the way of the Eagles a few weeks from now. Stands in the way of an ass kicking.

One of the things we talked about AD NAUSEAM over the years was the thought that maybe Reich (and John DeFilippo) deserved more credit for the Super Bowl run than Doug Pederson. People fuckin’ loved that take, even though they had no way to prove it. Reich didn’t call the plays, so unless you were inside the QB and offensive game planning room, you can’t say for certain how much of the positive play he was directly responsible for. That’s not to say that that the argument is wrong, it’s just really hard to prove because there was a lack of empirical evidence to latch on to. It was mostly anecdotal.
