A couple of losses will do this.

From our friends at Sports Betting Dime:

After the Eagles dropped their second straight game, losing to the Saints in Week 17, Nick Sirianni is no longer the odds-on favorite to win NFL COY. Sirianni is still the co-favorite, though. His odds faded from -175 to +175, moving him into a tie with Kyle Shanahan for the best odds.

SBD’s model takes odds from the sports books and puts them together to create one aggregate number.

According to their weekly projections, Sirianni was out in front with -167 odds following the Dallas loss:

The Eagles are 13-3 and the Niners 12-4, so if both teams win in week 18, Sirianni finishes with the better record and the #1 seed. You’d think that’s probably enough to get him over the hump and create that final bit of separation again. It really depends on how voters view the job Doug has done in Jacksonville. If the Jag-WIRES beat Tennessee on Saturday night, they finish 9-8 and win the AFC South on the strength of five-straight victories. That’s super impressive, go from 4-8 to possibly winning the division, regardless of how much that division stinks.

Division is the one area where Sirianni has the clear edge over Shanahan. The Seahawks, Rams, and Cardinals were not as good as the Cowboys, Giants, and Communists, but Shanahan also hasn’t lost a game since October despite having to go to his 3rd QB on the depth chart. The Niners have been super impressive since early November.

You could honestly make a compelling case for Sirianni, Shanahan, or Doug at this point. It’s in Odin’s hands now. The All Father.
