Eagles replacing Shane Steichen:

Johnson was the leader in the clubhouse, on paper, from day one. Schefter basically told us this a few weeks ago when he was on 97.5 the Fanatic, but this time he tweets it out to his 10.2 million followers.

Promoting Johnson always made the most sense because he has a long-running relationship with Jalen Hurts, he knows the offense, and he’s spent two years with the Eagles since coming over from the Florida Gators.

Continuity is a “big fucking deal,” as Joe Biden once told Barack Obama. Hurts had gone year after year playing under different coaches and coordinators, so for the Eagles to promote their QB coach is the smartest and safest move possible. Johnson is 36 years old and becomes the first black offensive or defensive Eagles coordinator since Emmitt Thomas in 1998, so that’s cool to see as well. Of course, it doesn’t matter if you’re white, black, latino, asian, pacific islander, or of (insert region here) descent if you run the God damn ball and also let Jalen throw beautiful go balls to A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith. Go Birds.
