"He Kicked it to the Right" - Two Former Pros Blame Arryn Siposs for Super Bowl Punt Return
I don’t think I’ll ever stop talking about this game and everything that went wrong during it. There’s so much that did that you kind of have to tip your cap to the Eagles for keeping it so close. Here’s an actual special teams breakdown that you’ll want to watch. Daren Bates and Jalen Collins, two former NFL players and hosts of The Raw Room Podcast, talk about why the Kadarius Toney return in the Super Bowl was Arryn Siposs’ fault:
Punting was shit all year, no matter if it was Siposs or Brett Kern. The Eagles were second to last in net average at 39.7 yards. The Chiefs were #1. Now the Birds special teams are a part of the longest punt return in Super Bowl history, thanks to Siposs’ shank. It wasn’t even the punt going to the wrong side of the field, but also how it was in Toney’s hands so quick the return team had no chance to get down there. Look how far the gunner at the 45 is inside already:
The entire special teams has to now slice more than your first drive off the tee to try and recover. Add it to the list of reasons why the Eagles didn’t win the Super Bowl.
This just shows you the smallest mistake in the Super Bowl can cost you.
