Jason Kelce’s dad was on the Ross Tucker Football Podcast and was asked if he’s given Jason any advice on his retirement:

“A little bit of sour taste in his mouth right now that says you gotta get back here and fix this.”

I love it!

I’m optimistic Jason Kelce is coming back. I think he loves Jalen Hurts, he definitely LOVES Jeff Stoutland, the entire offensive line is returning, he’s not leaving Philly even after his playing days, and there is that unfinished business element looming over his head. Even though Jason Kelce himself didn’t give the most reassuring answer to the question via Jimmy Kempski at PhillyVoice:

Performance and the desire to go through the rigors of an NFL season will be the key factors in Kelce’s decision.

“You try and weigh whether you think, one, you can still do it at a high level, and two, whether you want to do it,” he said. “I think that’s the big thing. It’s a grind. I know that I could still probably come back and perform at a high level or a good level.”

Interestingly, while Kelce is still widely regarded as the best center in the NFL and arguably playing the best football of his career, he believes that his performance is in decline.

“It’s getting harder every year,” he said. “I’m nowhere near the player I used to be. Jalen Hurts makes all of us look a lot better and makes my job a lot easier. It’s only going to go [downhill], and whether you can be accountable to your teammates and perform at that level and mentally you have the energy to be the difference maker that I feel I am in that regard, all that stuff will factor in.”

But Donna Kelce was pretty positive he’d come back during Super Bowl week, via Jeff McLane at the Inky:

“I don’t think he’ll retire. This year he’s had more fun than I think he’s ever had in his entire career,” Donna Kelce said. “The Eagles and Chiefs are playing each other next year and he may just stay for that, to be able to play against his brother one more time in a rematch.”

Momma does know best. How many kegs Jason? Just say the word.
