Take a look at this:

“Hitter power rankings” it says, not “power hitter rankings,” so let’s get the dyslexia out of the way first.

The criteria is described this way on the MLB website:

“For this pre-Opening Day edition, our voters were tasked with picking the top 10 bats in the Majors, considering not only 2022 performance but also expected ’23 success.”

Vague criteria, but the NL home run leader, Kyle Schwarber, is missing. Bryce Harper is missing. Dork face Pete Alonso, who had an .869 OPS, 131 RBI (tied for first), and 40 home runs, is not on the list. Austin Riley is nowhere to be found. Yeah, they’re factoring in “expected” 2023 success, and Harper is currently on the shelf, but are we sensing a steep regression from the other three? How can this list include zero players from the NL East? I’m outraged!

Opening Day can’t come soon enough.
