Everybody’s talking about this survey done by the NFL Players Association. They sent out a questionnaire to each dude in the NFL with the following parameters:

QUESTIONS WERE SENT TO EVERY PLAYER ON THE 2022 TEAM ROSTERS ASKING THEM THEIR OPINIONS ABOUT THEIR CLUB’S FACILITIES, CERTAIN CLUB PERSONNEL/COACHES, AND OTHER WORK-RELATED CATEGORIES, SUCH AS CLUB’S TREATMENT OF FAMILIES AND TEAM TRAVEL (PLAYERS WERE NOT ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT ANY CLUB OTHER THAN THEIR 2022 EMPLOYER). AS A RESULT OF THE CONFIDENTIAL QUESTIONNAIRE, 1,300 PLAYERS RESPONDED. THERE THEN WAS A QUALITATIVE FOLLOW UP BY THE UNION, WHICH RESULTED IN THE FOLLOWING “REPORT CARD.”

The Eagles ranked 14th overall, and Jeff Kerr parsed the numbers in a tweet:

The report card elaborates on these responses. For instance, the Birds do not have a family room for players, though there is one for coaches and staffers. There’s a daycare room at the stadium, but players have to bring their own sitters. I guess the normal schmoes like us just drop the kids off at the grandparents’ house and call it a day, but we’re not professional athletes with money.

As for the training room, almost half of players felt like they didn’t have enough space for hot tubs and cold tubs. They think the locker room needs to be larger and could go for an upgrade as well.

The travel responses were curious as well. Only 51% of players “feel like they have enough room to spread out,” and the Birds are one of eight teams that don’t offer first-class seats. Get these guys some leg room! Can’t have Jordan Mailata cramped on the plane. We’re trying to pancake defensive ends, not our own players.

That’s about it in terms of complaints. Jeffery Lurie is an owner with emotional intelligence, so he’ll likely act on this stuff. Let’s get some family rooms at the Linc and a new tub room at NovaCare. Go Birds.
