It’s Done – Jalen Hurts Gets PAID with Long-Term Eagles Contract

Dunno who was first:
Eagles and Jalen Hurts reached agreement on a five-year, $255 million extension, including $179.304 million guaranteed, per source.

$179 million guaranteed eh? That’s not bad! And $51 million per year makes him the highest-paid player in the NFL (while they get the deal done before Burrow, Herbert, etc). The Birds are calling this a five-year contract extension, so it technically begins in 2024, but we’ll have to wait for the breakdown of how the money is spread out. Regardless, they always do a good job of taking care of their star players, and getting it done now instead of letting this thing drag on means everyone is happy and we can move forward with the draft and building the rest of the roster.
edit 1 – looks like there’s a no-trade clause in the contract, that’s pretty significant. Hurts can always waive it if things go south, but it shows a strong level of commitment here
edit 2 – Rap Sheet breaks out the guaranteed money here:
“Hurts’ deal has $179.304 million in total guarantees, including $110 million fully guaranteed at signing and $126.5 million fully guaranteed by March 2024, as well as the first no-trade clause in Eagles history — another sign of the franchise’s faith in Hurts, who is still only 24 years old.”
Go Birds.
