Trae Young Campaigns For Assist Title on Twitter An Hour After Losing to the G League Sixers
Jalen Rose went on Twitter last night ranting about how the NBA scoring, steals and rebound champs should be awarded. Not based on average, but on totals:
The NBA's league leaders should be based on highest total, not highest average… let's fix that! pic.twitter.com/z4AiInCK9X

Fair argument. In the NFL the rushing champ is the player with the most yards. It’s just fishy he’s making this argument on the same day Joel Embiid locks up his back to back scoring title. The Worldwide Leader in Giannis trying to disparage the MVP case for our guy. I’m surprised this didn’t come from a Ringer employee honestly.
Where it gets funny is Trae Young replied to the video (in a later deleted tweet) agreeing with him. A couple hours after he lost to the G League Sixers and got shut down by a 20 year old in the middle of a playoff hunt:
Listen Trae should be the assist winner. He’s got almost 100 more than the next guy. But read the room man. Sure you just put up a 20 and 20, but in a loss. While the entire Sixers starting lineup sat. You had the chance to win the game and Jaden Springer, fresh off of winning the G League championship the night before, locks you up on the final play of regulation:

Just terrible optics to go on Twitter and campaign for the assist title. Imagine if Embiid did this as an 8th seed. He would be KILLED! Especially from a guy trying to shake the label as a coach killer and stat padder on a team that is the definition of average:
Hawks now 39-39. They have scored 9,209 points and allowed 9,210. They are 24-24 against the East and 15-15 against the West. They have been within one game of .500 for 72 consecutive days.
