Howard “The King” Eskin asked Nick Sirianni about Haason Reddick suggesting earlier this week that he is underpaid.

Sirianni:

“I don’t see there being a situation. Haason has been here every day and working his butt off to get himself back out on the practice field. Working his butt off to make sure that he is healthy so this injury that he is going through right now doesn’t linger all season.

You know, engaged in meetings, engaged in practice, engaged in the training room. Haason is a great teammate and a great player. I’m glad he’s here.”

Reddick signed a three-year deal that roughly gives him an AAV of $15 million per season. He’s not making peanuts, but he IS underpaid relative to other elite NFL pass rushers. Joey Bosa makes 27 million and TJ Watt makes 28 million. You’ve got Maxx Crosby and Khalil Mack at $23.5 million. Reddick’s productivity is right up there with all of those guys.

So it’s not that he was low balled on that contract (which he himself signed), it’s just that he’s over-performed that contract in year 1. If he continues to play at a high level, the Eagles can very easily redo that deal or let Howie work his restructure magic and/or extend him for another year or two. They’ve got plenty of options here and the Birds don’t let themselves get into this kind of trouble. They typically take care of their guys, so this feels like a pseudo-nothing burger situation.
