Julio Jones Says we will Revisit the Question of How Much He Has Left in the Tank

At one point in the not-so-distant past, Julio Jones was a perennial Pro Bowl player and shoe-in thousand-yard receiver. These days? Not so much, but speaking with Philly media for the first time, he jokingly scoffed at the question of how much is left in the tank:

Jones is 34 now. He played 9 games during his final Atlanta season, which was 2020, and finished with 771 yards and three touchdowns on 51 receptions. He was traded to Tennessee at the beginning of 2021 and played 10 games, going on IR with the same hamstring issue that bothered him at the end of his Falcons tenure. He caught 31 passes for 434 yards with the Titans, then was released. In 2022, he signed a one-year deal with the Bucs, missed time with a PCL tear, and finished with 299 yards and two touchdowns.

So no, this is not the Julio Jones of eight years ago, but if you’re looking for something positive, he went for 74 yards and a touchdown in the last NFL game he played, which was the Dallas loss in the 2022 playoffs. He’s coming here to play alongside two great receivers and a great tight end, and will get targets from a great quarterback, so it’s not like he’s being pulled off the scrap heap by the Texans. There’s a real chance he has more of a Jay Ajayi-like Eagles tenure rather than a Golden Tate-esque tenure. At least that’s what we’re hoping for.
