A Look at the Stanley Cup Final Game 2 Odds
In case you missed Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final, Sergei Bobrovsky is god.
Bobrovsky made 32 saves for the Florida Panthers, shut out the Edmonton Oilers, and vaulted to the top of the Conn Smythe Trophy odds board.
Bobrovsky played out of mind in a game that Edmonton almost doubled Florida’s shots on goal total.
So it doesn’t take a genius to figure out what the game plans for Game 2 will be. Florida will try to have more time in the offensive zone. Edmonton needs to replicate its pressure and hope that Bobrovsky isn’t a superhuman in goal.
Florida is once again favored on the money line, same as Game 1, and is up to -250 to win the series because of the Game 1 win.
If Bobrovsky is once again on fire in net, the Panthers money line, under 5.5 total goals, and Edmonton shots on goal props are the plays.
Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, Evan Bouchard, and Zach Hyman accounted for 17 of Edmonton’s 32 shots on goal in Game 1. McDavid led Game 1 with six SOGs, Draisaitl and Bouchard had four each, and Hyman had three.
McDavid and Hyman’s shots on goal props sit at 3.5, while Draisaitl and Bouchard are at 2.5. McDavid was uber aggressive in Game 1, so he might be the best bet of the bunch. Draisaitl is the most interesting member of the quartet to watch.
Draisaitl typically starts on Edmonton’s second line, so in theory, he has a better chance to put shots on goal, but he was moved up to the top line with McDavid and Hyman to create more chances in the third period. The Oilers will probably go to that strategy again, especially if they’re losing.
McDavid is +600 at most PA sports betting apps and NJ sports betting apps to have the most shots on goal in Game 2. I would consider that because of his activity in front of net in Game 1.
As for Florida, I’d look to Matthew Tkachuk props. He had a single shot on goal in Game 1, but he had 20 SOGs in the final four games of the Eastern Conference Final. He has the easier defensive matchup than Florida’s top line, which matched up with McDavid as much as possible in Game 1.
Tkachuk may be a shots on goal ladder candidate if he reverts back to his regular shooting form. His over/under sits at 2.5. You can Same Game Parlay McDavid and Tkachuk three SOGs at +122 and 4+ SOG at +375 on FanDuel.
