Franki Rudnesky at PhillyVoice:

Pop star Olivia Rodrigo is playing a sold-out show at the Wells Fargo Center on Friday, and the highly anticipated arrival of her GUTS Tour is bringing along a sweet treat to the Philly region.

Crumbl, a Utah-based dessert franchise known for its unique offerings, has partnered with Rodrigo on the GUTS Cookie. The featured item has been following Rodrigo’s tour across North America since February, and it’s now available at 16 Crumbl stores in the Philly suburbs through Saturday, July 20.

Rodrigo’s Crumbl cookie went viral on social media shortly after its debut when a TikTok creator named Dre put out a video reviewing the dessert. He mistakenly called the singer “Olivia Rodriguez” and referred to her as “that little Mexican girl that be singing all them sad songs.” (Rodrigo has previously noted her Filipino heritage). Rodrigo took the error in good fun, making her own TikTok video trying the Crumbl cookie with Dre’s words playing in the background.

It was Tobias Harris who once famously said that casual Sixers fans would trade him for a Crumbl cookie. Would they do the same with Olivia Rodrigo? Unlikely. One actually earns their money, and it’s not Tobi.

There are no Crumbl locations in Phila, so Pagan went out to Cherry Hill for a test run last year. His review:

Solid cookie. One of those ones where you can only eat two before you have a sugar rush. Some people don’t like the softness of it or the cupcake taste, but I guess those people never grew up with the frosted Lofthouse Cookies at every 4th of July of BBQ.

Also, almost $50 for a 12 pack is nuts. Especially when it’s a shitty batch. They release a new batch every Monday for the week and this one stunk. Chocolate Chip, pink sugar, cosmic brownie, peanut butter, and one had fruit – which is insane. They really mailed it in for the holiday, huh? Last week’s batch was red velvet, waffle, cookies & cream, fried ice cream and pink sugar. That’s a murderer’s row of cookies right there.

I’d pay an extra $5 for a sturdier box. The box fell apart like the Sixers in the second round of the playoffs.

Speaking of sturdiness, Olivia Rodrigo is good. I’ve heard maybe three songs, but they’re solid, sort of a bratty punk sound, like if Avril Lavigne only sang about ex-boyfriends. Or if L7 and The Butthole Surfers had a pop baby in 2024. Something like that.
