The Phils lost 6-5 to the Yankees on Wednesday to complete the home donut. Swept by New York to extend the losing streak to four games.

They’ve now lost six of seven and are 3-9 since the All-Star Break.

In this series:

  • they gave up 25 runs
  • Yankees fans infested the ballpark
  • Bryce Harper went 0-15 with five strikeouts
  • Kyle Schwarber had 1 hit (edit – sorry I was looking at the wrong log)
  • the RBIs came from Austin Hays (4), Alec Bohm (2), Weston Wilson (1), Nick Castellanos (3), Trea Turner (1), and Brandon Marsh (2)
  • Zack Wheeler was blown up in Game 1 and gave up seven earned runs on seven hits
  • they had multiple opportunities to win Game 2 in extra innings and decided to swing at the first pitch instead of, you know, actually challenging the pitcher

So on and so forth.

If you go back before the All-Star Break and include that dreadful Oakland series, the Phils are 4-11 since the Dodgers sweep. It doesn’t get any easier from here because up next is a 10-game west coast road trip with three in Seattle, three at the Dodgers, and four in Arizona. Respite comes in the merciful form of Miami and Washington at home, but at this point nothing feels like it’s guaranteed. And even then, it’s three games in Atlanta after that, followed by three in Kansas City, then the Braves again. Buckle up!
