Charles Barkley Not Retiring, Staying with TNT
TNT lost the NBA rights, so you’d think Charles Barkley might retire, but he’s actually gonna stay with the network. Press release:
TNT Sports and Charles Barkley today reaffirmed his long-term commitment that will see the broadcasting icon and Naismith Basketball Hall of Famer exclusively contribute to TNT Sports for many years to come.
Barkley, who signed a 10-year agreement with TNT Sports in 2022, will be entering his 25th year with the company. One of the most critically acclaimed broadcasters of all time, Barkley is a five-time Emmy Award winner for outstanding sports personality — including this past year. He and the Inside the NBA show — winner of 21 Emmys — have been the recipient of many acknowledgments including induction in several Halls of Fame.
What’s Chuck gonna talk about? College Football playoffs? Hockey? NASCAR? AEW? The French Open? Maybe he gets a weekly special discussing the big ‘ole women of San Antonio.
TNT’s Chairman and CEO says in a statement that “it’s fantastic to have Charles for this journey as we develop new content ideas and shows for our fans.” Sir Charles could develop into a jack-of-all-trades kind of talent where they feature him across a number of sports and just see what happens. But if we’re being honest with ourselves, it’s not gonna be the same without Shaq, Ernie, and Kenny up there on the stage. Where do we get Jussie Smollett commentary now?
