Cowboys Make Dak Prescott the Highest-Paid Player in NFL History
Dak Prescott got a new deal:
A deadline deal: Hours before Dallas kicked off its season, it reached agreement with QB Dak Prescott on a four-year contract, $240 million extension that will make him the highest-paid player in NFL history and keep him in a Cowboys uniform for seasons to come, per sources. pic.twitter.com/ZsQmwcuoNA

Hilarious. When Dak’s new money meets CeeDee Lamb’s contract, the Cowboys will be paying $95 million to two players. That’s… a lot of money! And Micah Parsons needs a new deal as well. They’re gonna have to fill the rest of the roster with castoffs from the Eagles’ linebacker corps. Maybe throw some undrafted free agents into the mix to keep yourself cap compliant.
Jalen Hurts’ new money doesn’t kick in until next year, but for some context, Hurts, A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, and Saquon Barkley are hitting the cap at a combined $36 million this year. That number will increase to $50 million in 2025, according to Spotrac, which is still almost half of what Dak and Lamb will earn on their new deals. After those two, and putting Parsons off to the side for a minute, the only other big earners they have are right tackle Terence Steele, CB Trevon Diggs, and guard Zack Martin. There are some high single-digit earners but they’re going to be one of the most top heavy teams in league history.
Thank you to Jerry Jones, who, by the way, has a lame duck head coach to think about as well. The Cowboys have four playoff wins since 1996 and have not been to the NFC Championship Game since Bill Clinton was in the White House.
