Jason Avant, Apparently a Sideline Reporter Now, Saved the Michigan Flag from Grubby Ohio State Mitts
Michigan beat Ohio State in Columbus on Saturday afternoon and there was a big brouhaha after the game because the Wolverines tried to plant their flag right in the middle of the field. At some point during the fracas, former Eagle Jason Avant got in there and saved the flag from the filthy paws of incensed Buckeyes:

Apparently Avant is the sideline reporter for the Michigan radio broadcast. Who knew? Inspired, perhaps, by Howard Eskin. Avant is a 2006 Wolverine alum and was really good during his college days. He was first-team All-Big Ten in 2005, on a team that also included Santonio Holmes, Tony Hunt, Nick Mangold, Joe Thomas, A.J. Hawk, Paul Poslusny, Chad Greenway, and Rob Ninkovich, just to name a few. He caught 82 Chad Henne passes for 1,007 yards and eight touchdowns that year.
Amazing video though. Avant was always reliable and had great hands. Look at him hang on to the flag while being accosted by multiple Buckeyes. No way he’s dropping it:
Avant also knows talent when he sees it:
