The Flyers lost 3-2 to the Avalanche on Monday night. They made a furious charge at the end to cut into a 3-0 deficit, but ran out of time. During the game, one of the refs went down after a collision with a Colorado player and had to be stretchered off:

The NHL announced around 8:30 p.m. that Dunning was “fully communicative and has movement in all extremities.” He was taken to a local hospital.

Frank Seravalli at Daily Faceoff tweeted the following Tuesday afternoon: “Update: #NHL referee Mitch Dunning is back home and resting after a scary collision last night in Philadelphia that saw him taken off the ice on a stretcher. Dunning is sore but otherwise doing fine after examination at a local hospital. Great news.”

Sounds like he avoided serious injury. It wasn’t a high-speed collision, but the fall looked awkward and he came down right on his back. You’re falling on hard ice, not couch cushions. Glad to hear he’s doing alright.
