Known hater Chris Simms made a good observation about the Eagles/Ravens game:

“There were so many blatant holds on Jalen Carter in the second half of the football game (that) the NFL should be embarrassed. They should be embarrassed. I’m seeing this as a theme, and I know you’ve heard me say it a bunch here as of late, whoever is down gets held a lot right now. If you’re losing, they let the team that’s losing get away with more than they should. And I see it in a lot of games. We showed examples, like the Steelers beating the Ravens a few weeks ago – I see it every week. There were some blatant ones in this game where I go, ‘they’re just not going to call it, it’s right in front of his face, I don’t know what they’re looking at.'”

Kudos to Mr. Simms for pointing this out. We talked earlier this week about the Eagles’ -22 penalty differential and -194 penalty yard differential, DESPITE the Birds themselves committing their own penalties at an NFL-average rate. It supports what Simms is saying about losing teams getting away with more than they should. Perfect example of that is the jersey tug on Milton Williams when the refs picked up the flag and allowed a 39-yard Lamar Jackson run. The Eagles have won eight in a row despite this huge penalty advantage for the other team, so you wonder how much of that is the refs thinking, “well the Eagles are up and this game is almost over, we’re gonna swallow the whistle.”

Anyway, rare W for Simms, who is the world’s biggest Jalen Hurts hater. As long as he’s not talking about Hurts or putting together his fugazi QB rankings, he’s tolerable.
