The rivalry that we didn’t know we needed in our lives until last Saturday is renewed on Thursday night in Boston. The United States and Canada play for the 4Nations Face-Off title. The USA is a very slight favorite at -115, while Canada sits at -105 on the moneyline at Pennsylvania sports betting apps.

The Americans won the head-to-head matchup in the round-robin stage by a 3-1 score. But it was the three fights in the first nine seconds that really captured everyone’s attention. Canada has the edge in top-end talent with Nathan MacKinnon and Connor McDavid and its best defenseman Cale Makar will play on Thursday. Makar missed Saturday’s game with an illness. The Americans have more injury issues going into the championship match. Their top D-man Charlie McAvoy was in the hospital with an infection to an upper-body injury earlier this week and both Tkachuk brothers have been dinged up. Matthew Tkachuk missed Monday’s loss to Sweden and Brady Tkachuk didn’t play after the first period on Monday. However, both fight instigators from Saturday should play tonight.

There are plenty of promotions out there for second go-around of USA-Canada. FanDuel has a 25 percent profit boost, DraftKings has a profit boost available for a 4+ leg SGP, BetMGM has a Second Chance offer to get your money back on your choice of first goal scorer if they score the second goal, ESPN Bet has a 20 percent profit boost on any straight wager and bet365 has a Super Boost for the game. If you use the cliche of big-time players step up in big-time games, then it’s easy to go to MacKinnon or McDavid to score a goal for Canada. For the USA, the top choices are Auston Matthews, who needs to do more offensively in the tournament anyway, Jack Hughes, Jake Guentzel and the Tkachuks.

I’d look into shots on goal props for the Tkachuks because they just rip pucks on net when they’re not busy wanting to rip Canadian heads off. Each of them had three SOGs the first time against Canada and they ripped 13 combined SOGs in the opener against Finland. I would combo MacKinnon, McDavid, the two Tkachuks and the top shooting D-men on each side, Makar and Zach Werenski to have 2+ SOGs each for one of the SGP promos. I wouldn’t get too carried away with SOG SGPs, but if MacKinnon, McDavid and Tkachuks are all firing, they could all easily rip three SOGs.

Hughes and Guentzel are the top candidates to score for the Americans, and they have been consistent with shots as well. You could use them as alternatives to the Tkachuks, or put them in an all-American 2+ SOG SGP if you’re one of those people who hates betting against your team, or in this case your country.
