Eagles Free Agency Roundup: Adam Schefter Thinks the Birds Will Shed More Salary
Adam Schefter was on 97.5 The Fanatic and said the Eagles are more likely to shed salary rather than acquire more:
Here’s some more Eagles free agency news as we wait for the next shoe to drop on NFL free agency.
Rap Sheet says the trade for Kenyon Green doesn’t mean re-signing Mekhi Becton is impossible (skip to 1:55):
From @GMFB: The #Bills with two big-time additions in free agency, as Joey Bosa and Larry Ogunjobi both land in Buffalo. Plus, the #Ravens grab DeAndre Hopkins and the #Eagles and #Texans pulled off a trade. pic.twitter.com/eax5Oaw2xo

The Eagles were in the running for safety Justin Reid, who ended up signing with the Saints, according to James Palmer:
Reid had several teams that were very interested. Most notably it went down to the wire with the #Titans, #Eagles and #Saints with New Orleans winning out per source. https://t.co/MwEaeGpoZo

Was this a back-up plan for Howie when he traded CJGJ? There’s definitely a chance, but I would think they weren’t going all-in. They probably gave Reid a number and he went with Saints cause it was the most he got. Why else would you pick the Saints over the Eagles? The Birds have a plan B (I’d assume) and aren’t going to lose sleep over missing out on him.
Looking for safety help? Sounds like Justin Simmons has the Eagles high on his list. Simmons ranked 113th/170th for safeties according to PFF, fwiw:

Kenny Gainwell signed a 1-year deal with the Steelers:

I love Kenny G. Very underrated as a backup. Tough, dependable, and could be counted on to spell Saquon all season. One last ballad for him:
The Eagles would have eight picks in the first four rounds including three projected compensatory picks for losing Milton Williams, Josh Sweat, and Isaiah Rodgers:
Including projected compensatory picks, the Eagles could have 8 selections in the first four rounds of the 2026 NFL Draft.
