We’re Gonna Need a Ruling on Whether or Not Vertical Lettering Counts as a POOP Game

The Phils played the Pirates the other day and, as you know, the POOP game is dead because they are using different chyrons this season. But NBCSP occasionally flashed this bottom left scorebug, which reimagined POOP in verticality:

This was well-received among the baseball plebeians, who proclaimed that the POOP game had returned, but I don’t know. You’ve got the inning between the two zeroes and there’s a GMC advertisement in there as well. Therefore it is discontinuous POOP and open to debate. Vertical lettering does not a POOP game make, but that’s just my opinion. I think you need to have P 0 0 P straight through, no interruptions, in order for it to count, but I’m open to differing opinions on this. Keep in mind, there’s no official rulebook determining what actually constitutes a POOP game. There’s nothing that specifies what exactly the chyron needs to look like. This hasn’t been codified into any kind of governmental document for DOGE to take a look at. So it’s really on us, the fans, to take ownership of POOP and define the game how we see fit. You tell me whether or not this counts as a return of the POOP game. Power to the people!
