Now that Sheetz is infiltrating Wawa country, I stopped in Bethlehem on the way home from the Preston & Steve Cardboard Classic to try both stores in a blind taste test. This Sheetz and Wawa share the same road and are less than a half-mile apart. You will never see more fair and balanced journalism than this! Thank you to the nice lady at the Sheetz register who gave me a rubber band to keep the blindfold on because my big-ass dome won’t allow a normal bandana to fit around. I still did not let that bleed into my ruling:

There you have it. Fair and balanced. I’m not a Mac & Cheese guy so that shouldn’t even be considered in my rankings. Give me Kraft with the powder cheese and the ooey gooey sounding goodness as you stir that bitch.

In terms of service and atmosphere I’d go Wawa. Call me a homer. I grew up on the Goose. The Wawa was more packed, the order was faster, and the new self-checkout is a godsend. No more standing in line waiting for a guy directing the cashier to find their smokes. Just a couple scans, pay, and you’re good. The Sheetz had an area to sit and enjoy your food, if you’re into that kind of thing, and a Drive-Thru, but with a limited menu. I’m not a Drive-Thru gas station guy. I actually enjoy going into a Wawa. I don’t even order on the app ahead of time. I like to experience the sights and sounds. The smell of the coffee, the sound of the guy talking way too loudly on his cell phone, the feeling of my fingers zooming around the touchscreen, and one by one the “boop” sound when I settle on my ingredients. I’m like an old timer who enjoys the feel of the morning newspaper on their skin. Top to bottom the Wawa experience, food, and service is better than Sheetz. I welcome the challenge. Rofo has tried it and failed, Turkey Hill has always been little brother, and 7-Eleven is like your meth head neighbor you try to avoid at all costs. VIVA LA GOOSE!
