ESPN Reportedly “Working Toward Removing” Jessica Mendoza from Sunday Night Baseball

Jessica Mendoza took some heat last week after expressing her disappointment with the way Mike Fiers blew the whistle on the Houston Astros’ sign stealing.
Long story short, she thought the ex-Astro should have gone about it differently, finding a “better way to surface the information,” as clarified in a statement shared on Twitter. She took further criticism because of her somewhat contradictory roles of working both as an analyst for ESPN and an adviser for the New York Mets.
After the dust settled on that, the New York Post’s Andrew Marchand reported that ESPN was considering moving Mendoza off Sunday Night Baseball, writing this:
ESPN is working toward removing Jessica Mendoza from its “Sunday Night Baseball” booth, The Post has learned.
As for the rest of the SNB crew, ESPN executives are still determining its plan, though Alex Rodriguez has been assured that he is welcomed back, according to sources.
Matt Vasgersian’s status as the lead play-by-player remains in question with Jon Sciambi and Karl Ravech potential replacements, according to sources.
ESPN declined comment.
Marchand explains later in the story that this isn’t a direct result of the Mike Fiers thing, but part of an expected shakeup. ESPN, according to him, still has “big plans” for Mendoza as they look to reshape their baseball coverage.
