James Franklin is “Extremely Disappointed” With Cancellation of Fall Football Season

James Franklin spoke this morning up in Happy Valley.
In previous messaging regarding the fall football season, Penn State’s head coach urged Big 10 leaders to gather more information before making a decision whether to play in September. He had concerns about the immediate futures of 5th year seniors, incoming freshman players, and guys entering the transfer portal, just to name a few items.
That’s consistent with what he said in today’s opening statement, explaining that the lack of information has made it difficult to communicate with disappointed players and parents.
From PSU:
It’s a good statement. The key words are “frustrated” and “unsure,” because it would be one thing to cancel the season with a clear plan for the future, but that’s not the case here. We’ve never tried to navigate a global pandemic before, and in many ways we’re all flying by the seat of our pants and trying to figure it out along the way, but it has to be extremely aggravating for players and parents to have no clear picture on what the immediate future holds.
