Jalen Hurts had surgery to remove “hardware” from an injury he suffered at Alabama way back in 2018, according to Tim McManus at ESPN.com:

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts, who recently became the highest-paid player in NFL history, had surgery on his right ankle earlier this offseason, league sources told ESPN.

The procedure was to remove “hardware” that had been inserted in the ankle after Hurts suffered a high-ankle sprain while playing for the University of Alabama in an October 2018 game against Tennessee, sources said. Hurts was sidelined for nearly a month before returning to play in November of that season.

Surgery to remove the hardware took place in February and was considered minor, according to sources, who added that Hurts returned to his offseason workout routine not long after the procedure.

This is the second-straight offseason he had ankle surgery, but this one seems to be minor compared to the one last year for his left ankle. Just a little housekeeping. It was probably a plate or screw that didn’t need to be there anymore. Nothing to be worried about. He’ll be a full participant next week at team activities. I mean, would a guy with a bum ankle be able to do this:

Imagine him now without hardware slowing him down. A speedboat can’t reach top speed if it’s carrying an anchor.
