Ruben Amaro Jr. Told the Most Obvious Lie on WIP

I wasn’t going to write about this because I thought people would know this was an obvious lie, until I saw other media outlets in the city start to pick it up and pass it off like it was actually real. Ruben Amaro Jr. was on WIP Thursday morning and he said he used to call into shows using a fake name and voice when he was the Phillies GM. If you remember RAJ’s tenure here, there is a fat fucking chance this ever happened. I mean you can hear RAJ get caught up in it as he’s telling the lie:

This is just a dude who’s trying to keep up with the boys at the neighborhood party. Oh Jake ran for 1500 yards in high school? Here goes RAJ talking about how he threw for 5,000 yards and had 18 rushing TDs because you can’t check those stats.

No wayyyyyyy! Oh yea I’ve done it!

“Were you sticking up for Ruben Amaro?” “No I was killing him!” HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

I can’t believe people are running with this like it’s real. Are we still on Earth? I know WIP thinks their fanbase is a bunch of mouth-breathing idiots they spin like a top as they cycle through contradictory Eagles points daily, but you’re going to have to wake up earlier in the day to get one over on me. The only guy in the city with a brain apparently.

I mean it’s not like RAJ managed in 1999. Does he not think stations had caller ID in 2015? A producer would sniff this out in a second. He had a weekly show with Angelo during his GM tenure for god’s sake. Not to mention the GM calling under an alias would be a MASSIVE story in this city. There’s no chance he’d risk being caught when he was already on thin ice. And if you think he criticized himself I have beachfront property in Iowa I’d like to sell you. You think the guy who sniffs his own farts was calling up the station to criticize himself? The same guy who publicly told the fans they bitch and complain and don’t know the game called up secretly and said the GM should be fired? I’m sure.
