April 18, 2024; Manhattan, New York; Former US President Donald Trump holds news clippings as he leaves for the day during his trial for allegedly covering up hush money payments linked to extramarital affairs at Manhattan Criminal Court. Trump's criminal trial resumed Thursday with Judge Juan Merchan seeking to complete jury selection. After a preposterous 36 hours of fake news proliferation and assorted partisan jockeying, President Trump confirmed on Tuesday that the Eagles will be invited to the White House:

“They will be (invited). We haven’t (invited them) yet but we will be. I thought it was a great performance by them, and absolutely they’ll be extended that invitation… they deserve to be down here and we hope to see them.”

There was some thought that Trump would not do this, based on what happened in 2018, when some of the players did not want to go to the White House, resulting in a rescinding of the invite. It was a little confusing at the time. That locker room included active progressive Malcolm Jenkins and there was a lot of consternation about the Colin Kaepernick kneeling situation at the time.

As you probably saw on Monday evening, a bunch of reporters all came out at the same time saying that an Eagles source informed them that the team did plan on visiting the White House in 2025 and were awaiting invitation. Barring any kind of unforeseen circumstance, which is totally possible in a Trump presidency, the Birds will be in Washington at some point in the coming months.
