Ben Simmons Airballed his Only Shot Attempt in Clippers’ Game 5 Loss

Let’s check in on the NBA playoffs and former 76er Ben Simmons:
Ben played five minutes on Tuesday night, going 0-1 from the floor while adding one rebound and a block. Over the length of the series, he’s averaging 8.4 minutes while putting up 0.8 points, 1.4 rebounds, 0.8 assists, 0.8 blocks, and 2.2 personal fouls. He’s hit two of his six shot attempts thus far as the Clippers find themselves down 3-2.
There was a point this season where Ben was getting 25+ minutes a night and playing relatively well for the Nets. Then they bought him out, he went to LA to be a backup, and he played 18 games at 16.4 minutes per. He averaged 3 points, 3 assists, and 4 rebounds. That role diminished closer to the postseason as Tyronn Lue now rolls out what’s really an 8.5-man rotation.
On one hand, you hate to see what’s become of a guy who was a multiple-time All Star in Philadelphia. He’s standing there at the elbow and Nikola Jokic is giving him a wide-open look. Shoot the J! On the other hand, Simmons forced his way out of here and created a lot of selfish drama and nonsense for everyone.
