Phillies Take 19-15 Record into Easy Month of May

The Phillies are four games over .500 on May 6th, and have a chance to really bolster their record this month.
May is the easiest month of the Phillies schedule. They face just two teams that are currently over .500 in the Guardians and the Athletics. They kick off a three-game set Tuesday night down in Tampa Bay with the Rays.
Phillies May Opponents
- 3 at Rays
- 3 at Guardians
- 3 vs Cardinals
- 3 vs Pirates
- 4 at Rockies
- 3 at Athletics
- 3 vs Braves
- 3 vs Brewers
Kyle Schwarber continues to pace the Phillies. He leads the team in home runs, OBP, SLG, and OPS (min. 20 games played). Trea Turner is having a good start to the season at the plate, hitting .297 on the year and slashing .440/.481/.520 over his last 25 at-bats.
The Phillies rotation is doing what we always thought they were going to do. They lead all starting staffs in strikeouts, have a combined 1.24 WHIP to start the year, and batters are hitting just .243 against them.
Their three best arms of 2025 will each start a game down in Tampa Bay. Zack Wheeler on Tuesday, Cristopher Sanchez on Wednesday, and Jesus Luzardo on Thursday.
As for the Phillies bullpen? They continue to improve. Sunday wasn’t great, but they quite literally just ran out of arms after a brutal debut from Ranger Suarez.
Jordan Romano has allowed 3 hits and 1 earned run since April 19th. Joe Ross hasn’t allowed an earned run since April 16th. Tanner Banks has started to throw some heat, paint outside corners, and has allowed just two earned runs since April 14th.
The bullpen is turning a corner. Yes, they still need an arm. But they actually look like a competent bullpen now. They didn’t three weeks ago.
