“I Don’t Think that’s Pertinent,” Says Jalen Hurts in Regard to White House Non-Visit

Jalen Hurts did not visit Donald Trump’s White House with the Eagles in April. Speaking to the assembled beat writers for the first time since, he said this when queried:

A lot of the players did not go to The White House. Hurts certainly was not the only one. And for the sake of consistency in messaging, it was mentioned back then that he had a scheduling conflict, so whether you believe it or not, the explanation is not new and it didn’t change. President Trump called Hurts a “terrific guy and terrific player,” so there was no criticism of the reigning Super Bowl MVP at the event itself.

In truth, Hurts didn’t miss anything. The ceremony was 23 minutes long and the podium comments were brief. Trump was on his best behavior. It was kind of boring? Nobody said or did anything controversial, and after much hemming and hawing it went off without a hitch.

You read through the comments on these posts and some people are annoyed with Jalen for not showing while others are annoyed with Saquon Barkley for yukking it up with the MAGAs. Wow! Breaking news, people on the political left and right have partisan thoughts. In broader observation, it seems like the vast majority of Eagles fans don’t care one way or another, and are focused on what’s really important, which is beating the absolute stuffing out of the Cowboys in the season opener.
