Former Eagle Bryan Braman died:

It was only revealed a couple of weeks ago that Braman was in a cancer fight, which started in February. There’s no information on what type of cancer this was, the GoFundMe page explaining that Braman had undergone Car-t cell reprogramming treatment last month.

Last update from June 20th:

His cells did re-infuse themselves, and did in fact start reproducing within his bone marrow. At first the mass did start to shrink, but then the cancer started fighting back. At this point Bryan has had to start having chemo treatments that are designed for the treatment program Bryan is in. Bryan has had to undergo several surgical procedures. The main problem has been that Bryan has not been able to recover from the procedures because of his lowered immunity due to all of these treatments. By the time he was able to recover so he could continue with the chemo, the cancer has grown expedentially (sic) faster, and is is now growing around his vital organs.

It’s really sad. The organizer of the fundraiser says that Braman was living out of a motel and struggling to pay for treatment because his insurance did not cover housing for the program.

Braman played for the Eagles from 2014 to 2016, then again in 2017, though he started with the Texans as an undrafted free agent out of West Texas A&M. Chip Kelly first brought him in to play special teams and compete for an outside LB job, then Braman signed with the Saints, wound up on IR, and was released. The Eagles brought him back in December of 2017 and he went on to win the Super Bowl as a key special teams contributor, playing between 80 and 90% of the snaps in the final three regular season games and throughout the playoffs.

His biggest Eagles play was the punt block against the Falcons in the divisional round, which took place at the end of the second quarter with less than a minute on the clock. It resulted in just a 22-yard swing, which gave the Birds enough time to get into field goal range and cut the lead to 10-9 going into the half (with a little bit of help from Keanu Neal’s knee). Braman also became a bit of a crowd favorite in Houston when he lost his helmet and went down the field to tackle a Tennessee Titan anyway. He was a maniac out there and gave some memorable lines in midnight green, like “kill, maim, destroy,” and talked about disemboweling the New England Patriots figuratively, not literally.

RIP Bryan Braman. Dude was a warrior out on the field.
