Contemplating Kruker: How Did the Person Who Invented the Clock Know What Time it Was?

John Kruk was on fire Monday night. The Phillies offense allowed him to wander into a part of their cerebellum some only wish they could tap into. It started in the 4th inning when he asked TMac how did the person who invented the clock know what time it was:

I love that TMac entertains these questions with legit thoughts. You can tell sometimes the grind of the season gets to him when he has Rube or Ben Davis in the booth. They’ll be yapping, ask TMac a question, and he’ll tune them out as he goes back to calling the game. It’s hilarious to listen to. Kruk, though? TMac is locked into every word he says. It’s like a scientist trying to study the behavioral patterns of some new species they discovered.

But the answer is the sundial right? It has to be.

Lets do a little CB History lesson.

Fun fact, I originally planned on being a history teacher when I first went to college, but then realized my short temper with the children at a summer youth basketball camp probably made me a better fit for something else. That’s the reason you’re all stuck with me now. Anyway, the engineer Archimedes invented the first geared clock during the third century BC. It was actually a cuckoo clock with birds chirping every hour because Archimedes was an asshole I presume. They were able to tell time originally due to the sundials, water, and sand clocks. Later, as technology advanced, hours, minutes, and seconds were introduced. So there you go. If you ask me I think it’s more interesting to wonder how the person who invented the calendar knew what day it was. We still don’t exactly know how old this planet is. Apparently it’s 4.5 billion years old, but for all we know we could be in the trillions.

Oh, and Kruk didn’t just stop at clocks, he made sure to tell TMac to punch him in the face as hard as he can if he ever became vegan:

If you’re vegan, I feel bad for you because the kale caesar chicken cutlet from Liberty Kitchen is the GOAT! One of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had in my life and the best part is one half is enough for a meal so you save the other part for dinner or when you come home from the bars at 2 a.m. If you’re going to a Phillies game this week I recommend you get one.
