Vic Fangio Couldn’t Believe Aaron Nola’s Performance Either

The first thing out of Vic Fangio’s mouth to reporters today wasn’t about Jalen Carter’s spit or who was going to play CB2 against the Chiefs. It was about Aaron Nola’s gem shocking him as much as it shocked you and I:
I love that Vic Fangio is one of us:

All this guy wants to do is coach ball, snack on a Zyn, and watch the Philadelphia Phillies while farting in his recliner and drinking a cold beer. He’s like your old man except he can call a ridiculously good game of football. I honestly think he’d show more emotion after the Phillies won the World Series than he did after his defense put on one of the greatest performances in Super Bowl history:
It wasn’t just Fangio who blurted out his intrusive thoughts. Even the Mets announcers couldn’t believe Nola pitched well.
“The Phillies got a surprisingly good effort from Aaron Nola” (skip to 2:15)
Shout out to Noles. That was a Nola toothpick game. Not even the biggest Nola supporter thought we were going to get six innings, three hits, seven strikeouts, and no runs Monday night. Knocked his ERA down to 5.54. It’s important because we’re going to really need him in a big spot come playoff time. He’s going to be one of the most important Phillies on the team now with Zack Wheeler on the shelf. Who knows how Rob Thomson is going to deploy the rotation. His horses will probably be Cristopher Sanchez, Ranger Suarez, and Jesus Luzardo. So where does Nola fit? Fourth starter if the series goes long? Long reliever duty? However he’s utilized we need him to keep the ball in the park. Right now his contract looks like one of the worst in baseball. You want to change that narrative? More starts like last night. Hopefully this is him finally getting back into a groove after a long IL stint. Don’t make me have to use this in October to describe an Aaron Nola start:
